Rocket Readers is a specialist online tutoring program for Year 5–6 students who are struggling with reading comprehension and confidence. Built around my Reading Breakthrough Method, the program helps children crush their SATs reading comprehension papers, jump up to 2 reading levels in as little as 12 weeks, and pick up any book with confidence and independence — finally understanding all that they read. Parents gain peace of mind knowing their child is prepared for secondary school success.
About Me
Hi, I'm Tim
I'm a qualified primary teacher with a BA from the University of West London and a Postgraduate Certificate in Education from Plymouth Marjon University.
I’ve always believed that reading is more than just a skill — it’s a gateway to imagination, confidence, and lifelong learning. That’s why I’m deeply passionate about helping children discover the joy of reading for pleasure, not just for school.
Alongside my work as an educator, I’m also an author currently writing a middle-grade action/adventure novel — because I truly believe stories have the power to inspire, empower, and ignite young minds.
One of my biggest missions? Making sure children never "grow out" of their creativity. Whether I’m teaching a reluctant reader or crafting a thrilling new chapter, I’m always looking for ways to keep curiosity alive and imaginations firing.

Pinpoint – We start by identifying exactly where your child is with reading, so you both know what’s holding them back. From here we create a personalised plan that accelerates progress and assures results.
STEP 2
Strengthen – We tackle the tricky areas head-on, replacing frustration with proven strategies that build fluency, comprehension, and confidence.
STEP 3
Accelerate – Your child applies their new skills across texts and subjects, with progress measured week by week. We break down difficult texts and step through questions together, ensuring they never freeze up or feel unprepared in tests.

My Reading Age Diagnostic Tool
Every Rocket Readers student begins with a pre-assessment using a reading age diagnostic tool I’ve personally developed. Unlike the simple checklists most tutors rely on, this tool measures:
